Magic lantern
The magic lantern is a pre-cinematic invention that sometimes had animated slides. The lantern was very popular in victorian times
Thaumatrope
The invention of the Thaumatrope means turning marvel and it was created by doctor John A Paris.A thaumatrope is a small disk, held on opposite sides of the circumference with string. The disk images on both sides of the disk and when spun it would make the images move.
Zoetrope
The zoetrope was another early optical toy.Looking through the slit gave the illusion of a moving cycle.
Praxinoscope
Invented by Frenchman Charles-Émile Reynaud in 1877, is the successor to the zoetrope animation device. The praxinoscope consisted of a series of small mirrors that reflected the sequential images on the lower inside portion of this rotating system. As a result of using mirrors, more light illuminates the images and the animations can be viewed from many different angles.
Flipbooks
Flip books consist of simple drawings stacked in sequential stages of movement with a single staple binding. When pages are flipped, they create the optical illusion of motion.
Stop motion
Stop motion is an animation technique to make a physically manipulated object appear to move on its own. The object is moved in small increments between individually photographed frames, creating the illusion of movement when the series of frames is played as a continuous sequence.
Cgi
Cgi is the application of computer graphics being used as special effect in movies.
